GAME RECAP: IceDogs bring home 7 of 8 points to end 4-game road trip in Erie.

The IceDogs were in Erie tonight to close out their 4-game road trip against the Otters. Despite playing their second game in as many nights, the IceDogs were looking to come out strong to finish the weekend against their rivals just south of the border.

The Otters jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period. Ben Jones got the ‘Dogs on the board on a power play toward the end of the period to get things going. Akil Thomas and Elijah Roberts picked up the assists on Benny’s goal. The Otters scored to extend their lead to the 3 by the end of the first period. Early in the second period, Matthew Philip had some fun with the puck going between stick and skate, beating Timpano to cut the Otters’ lead to 2. Matthew’s 2nd of the season was assisted by Ben Jones and Liam Ham. Kirill Maksimov brought the ‘Dogs within one with a one-timer from above the face off circle! Ben Jones won the face-off clearly back to Elijah Roberts who made the quick pass to Kirill the Thrill for the goal! Colton Incze made a huge save seconds after the Maksimov goal to keep the game close. Just seconds before the end of the period, Akil Thomas does what he does best and tied the game up at 4 ! Johnny Corneil did the dirty work down low in the offensive zone, got the puck to Kirill Maksimov who found Thomas and we headed into the third period with a tied game!

The third period solved nothing, despite the great chances by the IceDogs. The Otters took the game in OT sliding a puck past Incze.
