GAME RECAP: IceDogs fall to Colts in first pre-season game

Our pre-season in the community kicked off tonight in Thorold at Frank Doherty Arena against the Barrie Colts in front of a crowd of 919 fans. Tonight also marked the first time Philip Tomasino, Billy Constantinou, Ian Martin, Daniel Nardi and Andrew Bruder donned IceDogs jerseys in a game. Tonight was also Matthew Philip’s first game wearing IceDogs colours since January.

Barrie struck early in both the first and second periods to take a 3-0 lead, beating Dhillon glove side. The ‘Dogs picked up their pace of play halfway through the second period. Despite their best efforts, the ‘Dogs couldn’t find the scoresheet. Colton Incze shut the door from the middle of the second period onward, which provided his team with many opportunities, but they couldn’t solve the Barrie goaltenders.

The Niagara IceDogs would like to thank the Thorold Amateur Athletic Association and the Thorold Minor Hockey Association for their support in hosting this event.

Don’t forget the IceDogs’ next home pre-season game is Friday, September 15th at Fleming Centre in Lincoln County (Beamsville) at 7:00pm against the Kitchener Rangers. All ticketing information can be found here.
