GAMEDAY PREVIEW |IceDogs travel to Sarnia to take on Sting

The Niagara IceDogs are back in action tonight to face the Sarnia Sting, for the second time in less than a month. Tonight closes out the ‘Dogs season series against the Sting, following a thrilling come from behind overtime win at home against Sarnia. The IceDogs come into this game following a close, hard fought game against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The ‘Dogs are being led on the scoresheet by Sam Miletic. Miletic, is currently riding a 5-game goal streak, sits 4th in league scoring with 74 points on the season. The Sting’s Kyrou ranks just ahead of Miletic with 82 points on the season. Sam Miletic also ranks 3rd in league assists, with 46, while Sarnia’s Kyrou leads the league with 55 assists this season. Despite the powerplay having games of inconsistency, Kirill Maksimov and Danial Singer lead the team in powerplay goals scored, with 11, while Akil Thomas continues to rank at the top of the league with 5th most powerplay assists, with 20. Thomas sits just below Kyrou, who has 21 powerplay assists. The Sting’s Ruzicka leads the league with 8 game winning goals, while he and Kyrou have 10 combined insurance goals to lead the league. Kirill Maksimov continues to rank in the top 5 of league insurance goals, with 5 on the season.

It is likely ‘Dogs fans can expect Stephen Dhillon to make a return between the pipes tonight. He will be facing Justin Fazio, who comes into tonight with a goals against average of 2.83 and the best save percentage in the league of .920. He is 2nd in the league with 29 wins on the season.
