GAMEDAY PREVIEW | IceDogs play 2nd game in 2 days in Windsor

The Niagara IceDogs are back in action this afternoon as they travel to Windsor to face the Spitfires. Tonight opens the ‘Dogs season series against Windsor. The IceDogs come into this game following a close, hard fought overtime loss against the Sting last night. Despite falling behind 3-0 in the 2nd period, the ‘Dogs came back to force the game into overtime, securing an important point.

The ‘Dogs are being led on the scoresheet by Sam Miletic, who is playing in his 150th regular season OHL game today. Miletic, is currently riding a 5-game goal streak, sits 4th in league scoring with 76 points on the season. Sam Miletic also ranks 3rd in league assists, with 48, while Akil Thomas ranks 5th with 47. Despite the powerplay having games of inconsistency, a pair of Danial Singer powerplay goals last night gave him the team lead the team in powerplay goals scored, with 13. Meanwhile Akil Thomas continues to rank at the top of the league with 5th most powerplay assists, with 21. Kirill Maksimov continues to rank in the top 5 of league insurance goals, with 5 on the season.

It is likely ‘Dogs fans can expect Stephen Dhillon to make a return between the pipes this afternoon. He will be facing Michael DiPietro, who comes into tonight with a goals against average of 2.91 and one of the best save percentages in the league, with .910. He also leads the league in shutouts this season, with 4.

This afternoon’s game will be broadcast live on YourTV Niagara, 610 CKTB, and OHLLive. Follow @OHLIceDogs on twitter for live updates.

Coming into tonight’s game, the Sting have won all 4 of the past 5 games.
