IceDogs Host Otters in 2012/13 Home Opener Tomorrow Night!

The Niagara IceDogs play host to the Erie Otters in their 2012/13 Home Opener, tonight (Thursday, September 20th) at 7pm!

The game will be a special one for IceDogs fans as Andrew Agozzino, Alex Friesen, Freddie Hamilton and Mark Visentin all return to the Gatorade Garden City Complex to join the 2012/13 IceDogs and take part in a pregame ceremony which will see the unveiling of the 2012 OHL Central Division and Eastern Conference Championship banners!

In addition to the excitement of the pregame ceremony, there will also be a season kick off FanFest party in the parking lot starting at 5pm!  610 CKTB, the home of your Niagara IceDogs, will be broadcasting from the FanFest, and there will be lots of fun, food and drink, so we encourage all fans to come out and join us starting at 5pm!

In terms of the game itself, it should be an exciting matchup with the Erie Otters in town.  The Erie Otters made a couple of big picks in the offseason, starting with OHL 1st overall selection Connor McDavid, who became only the third player after John Tavres and Aaron Ekblad to earn exceptional status to join the league as a 15 year old.  The Otters also made a big splash in the import draft, adding Swedish goaltender and Columbus Blue Jackets first round pick Oscar Dansk with their first round import pick.  Add these two players to a good young core for Erie and the Otters look to be a much improved team in 2012/13.

For the IceDogs, Thursday night will mark the first OHL regular season debut for several IceDogs, including 2012 first round picks Aaron Haydon and Brook Hiddink, as well as 2011 second round pick Anthony DiFruscia.  After strong preseasons out of these three rookies and with a few other new faces in the lineup, IceDogs fans should be excited to see what the new players can add to the strong returning core from last year’s IceDogs squad.

With all the excitment of the 2012/13 Niagara IceDogs Home Opener, fans are going to want to be sure not to miss any of the action!  There are still tickets remaining so we encourage fans to get their tickets ahead of game time to ensure the best seating selection and avoid the lines!

Tickets are available at all IceDogs ticketing locations including the IceDogs 35 Queen St. office, the Pen Centre customer service desk, the Seaway Mall customer service desk and all Ticketmaster outlets, as well as

So don’t miss out on a second of the exciting IceDogs action, get your tickets now and be sure to join us tonight as we kick off the 2012/13 season!
