IceDogs Promote Long Time Assistant Coach

The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce that after eight seasons as assistant coach, Billy Burke has been promoted to the fifth head coach in franchise history!

Prior to graduating from Queen’s University, where Billy represented the tri-colour for four seasons – and captaining the Gaels in his final year. Burke previously played for the OHL’s Barrie Colts. While at Queen’s, Billy also played on the football team for three years becoming the first athlete in over 75 years to play both varsity football and hockey in the same year.

Joining the organization prior to the 2009-2010 season as an assistant coach, Billy has excelled in every role he’s been given. In his eight seasons behind the IceDogs bench, Billy has helped coach two Eastern Conference Championship winning teams (2011-2012, 2015-2016). Entering his ninth season with the organization as head coach of a promising young team poses a new and exciting chapter in his career.

The entire IceDogs organization are extremely excited to have Billy coach our team this upcoming season!
