IceDogs Visentin Signs Entry-Level Contract with Coyotes

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed IceDogs goaltender Mark Visentin to an entry-level contract.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Mark Visentin to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to sign Mark,” said Maloney. “He had a strong season with Niagara and Team Canada and has continued to excel in the playoffs. He is a terrific prospect and we look forward to watching his development in the future.”

The 6-foot-2, 201 pound Visentin appeared in 46 games with the Niagara IceDogs (Ontario Hockey League) this season posting a record of 30-9-2-4. Visentin ranked second in the entire OHL with a 2.52 goals against average (GAA), second in save percentage (.917), tied for fourth in wins (30) and tied for second in shutouts (4). Visentin and the Ice Dogs defeated Brampton in the first round of the OHL playoffs and will meet Oshawa in the next round.

The 18-year-old native of Waterdown, Ontario also represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York. Visentin helped lead his country to a silver medal by posting a 2.01 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

Visentin was drafted by the Coyotes in the first-round (27th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft.
