IceDogs Win 4-1 in Oshawa; Defeat Generals 4 games to 2!

The Niagara IceDogs used a big third period to take home a 4-1 win and 4-2 series victory over the Oshawa Generals Sunday night in Oshawa.

The first period saw the IceDogs strike first for the fifth time in the series as Alex Friesen scored 8:53 in to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.  Oshawa would score on the powerplay before the end of the period however to knot things up at 1-1 after one.  Shots in the period were 14-9 in favour of Niagara.

The second period would see the goaltenders take over as both Mark Visentin and Daniel Altshuller were perfect in the period to keep the score at 1-1 after 40 minutes.  Shots after two continued to favour the IceDogs 22-20.

The IceDogs would have a key penalty kill to start the third, and not only be successful on the kill, but as the penalty was winding down David Pacan would break in one on one and snap one by Altshuller to give the IceDogs the lead again at 2-1.  Pacan would continue his strong play scoring again with just under four minutes to go to stretch the IceDogs lead to 3-1 and give Niagara a little bit of breathing room at 3-1.  Brock Beukeboom would then find the empty net to make it a 4-1 final.  Final shots in the game were 32-28 for the IceDogs.

With the win the IceDogs take home the series victory four games to two and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the fourth time in five years in Niagara!
