General manager, Joey Burke, has announced he has acquired defenseman Elijah Roberts from the Kitchener Rangers for a 2018 3rd round pick (from Saginaw), a 2019 3rd round pick (from Barrie), and a 2020 2nd round pick (from Sault Ste. Marie).
In two seasons with the Rangers, Roberts has 32 points (7 goals, 25 assists). The offensive, play making defenseman also brings a physical edge to his game.
In his rookie season, he was named as the Rangers’ rookie of the year. He was named to Canada’s summer U18 team last summer, competing at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
GM Burke raved about Roberts and what he will be bringing to the team going forward. “We are thrilled to be able to add Elijah to the IceDogs today. He is a player I have coveted since his draft year, who will fit right in with our fast, dynamic group. Elijah is a guy who will be exciting for IceDogs fans to watch over the coming years and will immediately bolster our young back end. Elijah has the character and talent to excel in Niagara, and we could not be more happy to be able to add him to our program.”
The IceDogs are excited to welcome Elijah to the organization!
