Verhaeghe Signs with IceDogs

Niagara IceDogs Head Coach and General Manager Marty Williamson announced today that the IceDogs have signed 2011 second round pick Carter Verhaeghe.  Verhaeghe was selected 38th overall by the IceDogs in this past year’s OHL Priority Selection.

“It’s been my dream to play in the OHL and I’m happy for the opportunity” said Verhaeghe about becoming the newest member of the IceDogs family.

The 6 foot, 165 lbs centre spent last season with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs, accumulating 34 goals and 30 assists for 64 points in 45 games.  With a veteran team for 2011-2012, the IceDogs are counting on Verhaeghe to be a key piece in the future.

“We extremely happy to have Carter become the first of our 2011 picks to sign” said Williamson.  “We’ve got an extremely bright future shaping up here and Carter is going to be a big part of it.

The entire Niagara IceDogs organization would like to welcome Carter to Niagara and we look forward to seeing him hit the ice at training camp at the end of the month!
