Team White Wins Annual Inter-Squad Game

It took overtime to do it, but Team White eventually topped Team Black in the Niagara IceDogs annual inter-squad game Thursday night at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.

Brendan Perlini had a goal and an assist while Carter Verhaeghe scored the overtime winner as Team White erased a 3-0 deficit to come back and win 5-4.

Cody Payne netted a pair of goals while Jordan Maletta had two assists in the loss.

“There are a lot of good players here,” said Payne. “I think Maletta gave me both of (my goals). He’s a good player and Jenkins is also a good player. There’s a lot of talent so you just have to bury the puck.”

Team White’s goaltending duo of Blake Richard and Ryan Langford combined to make 28 saves. At the other end of the ice, Mackenzie Savard and Stephen Dhillon stopped a total of 27 shots.

The IceDogs will be on the ice practicing for the next two days, before they host the Oshawa Generals Sunday, August 31 at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls at 7pm.
