Niagara IceDogs General Manager, Joey Burke, is excited to announce that Jonah De Simone has signed with the team. The winger was drafted in the fourth round, 70th overall, by the IceDogs in this years’ OHL Priority Selection, and has committed to the organization by signing his Standard Player Agreement.
Burke confirmed the signing earlier today.
“This is an exciting day for myself and our entire organization. Jonah is a player we have loved since our first viewing early in the season, and he continued to impress all year. With this signing we have solidified our deep 2002 draft class and provided some much needed depth going forward. He is a guy with big offensive upside, who is detailed, moves well, and works extremely hard and will fit in great with our style here in Niagara.”
The 5’10” winger was a dynamic force in Minor Midget as he helped lead the offense for the Mississauga Reps of the GTHL. De Simone brought a consistent offensive presence to the lineup, finishing the season with 11 goals and 26 points in just 33 games. A quick winger with a very strong release, De Simone was an offensive threat each time he touched the ice this season.
The Niagara IceDogs are excited to welcome Jonah to the organization, and look forward to watching him at Training Camp in August.
