ANNOUNCEMENT | Schaefer named Assistant Captain

The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce they have named overage defenceman Johnathon Schaefer an Assistant Captain! Schaefer was drafted in the 6th round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selections (114th overall), and has played in 136 regular season games as an IceDog.

When asked about making this addition to the 2018-19 leadership group, HC Burke had nothing but raving reviews for the qualities Jonathon exhibits. “Johnny’s consistently one of the hardest workers everyday at practice. He’s always setting the tone for the day and is a very positive influence on our bench and in our dressing room. He’s very well admired and respected by his teammates and he’s the type of player that would go through a wall for his team. I’m very proud of Johnny. He deserves this honour very much.”

The entire Niagara IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Johnathon, and look forward to what’s to come as the season progresses.
