The 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge entered Semi-Final play on Friday as the United States and Russia advanced to play for gold on Saturday night while Canada White and the Czech Republic will clash for bronze. Here’s a look at Friday’s action.

United States 7, Canada White 3
Medicine Hat, Alta. – Guillaume Richard scored twice while Charles-Alexis Legault also tallied as Canada White saw its gold medal push come to an end in a 7-3 loss to the United States.

Chase Stillman (Sudbury Wolves) picked up an assist but a 4-0 deficit by the midway point of the contest would prove too deep for Canada White as the Americans went on to score seven times on 33 shots to advance to face Russia for gold on Saturday night.

We’ll feel sorry for ourselves for the next 15 minutes and then we are going to press the reset button,” said Canada White head coach Sylvain Favreau (Halifax Mooseheads). “If you look at the tournament as a whole, we are the only Canadian team in contention for a medal tomorrow. We have to make sure we reset and get ready to play tomorrow. We have to take the positive out of this, take the good with the bad and learn from it for the bronze medal game.”

Canada White faces a quick turnaround, taking on the Czech Republic for bronze on Saturday.

Game Summary

Saturday’s Placement Game and Medal Game Schedule:
