10 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE TONIGHT’S GAME

1) The IceDogs hit the road for a trip south to face the Sarnia Sting for the first time this season.

2) The IceDogs are looking to break 4 season losing streak in Sarnia. Last season, they nearly broke the streak, coming back from a 3-0 and 4-3 deficit, only to fall in overtime.

3) Akil Thomas is currently riding a 7-game point streak, having collected 10 goals and 10 assists since January 10th.

4) The IceDogs come into this game on a 4-game win streak, including a 6-3 win over the Erie Otters at home on Thursday.

5) Jason Robertson’s 74 points on the season, ranks 5th in the league. 33 of Robertson’s 70 points have been goals (also ranking 5th in the league). Akil Thomas’ 43 assists on the year rank 3rd in the league, just 7 assists behind Ottawa’s Keating, who has 50, ranking first.

6) The IceDogs have the 12 ranked away powerplay, with 20.2% efficiency, and the 16th ranked away penalty kill, with an 73% efficiency rating.

7) The Sting’s home power play ranks 18th with a 17.5% efficiency, while their home penalty kill is ranked 3rd with 87.1% efficiency.

8) Sarnia is led on the scoresheet by Hugo Leufvenius (53 points), and Ryan MacGregor (47 points).

9) The IceDogs are likely to face Ethan Langevin between the pipes. The rookie goaltender has a 3.73 goals against average and a save percentage of .877.

10) Against the Sting last season, Ben Jones collected 6 assists, and Akil Thomas collected 5.


After two away games in southwestern Ontario this weekend, against Sarnia and Windsor, the ‘Dogs come back to town on January 31st! Their game on the last day of the month is against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
