The IceDogs won 6-1 in their only home game against the Owen Sound Attack this season.
The ‘Dogs scored in under less than a minute and a half to kick off the game. Elijah Roberts netted a shot from the top of the circle, assisted by Phil Tomasino and Jacob Paquette. The second goal of the game was scored by Johnathon Schaefer, firing it from the blue line, with the assist going to Ben Jones.
There were quite a few back and forth penalties in the second period, but the ‘Dogs pushed through and got another goal to increase the lead to 3-0. As Akil Thomas fell, the puck got picked up by Jason Robertson who shot a pass to Tomasino. Tomasino then sniped his shot from the top of the circle for the third goal of the game.
The third period began quietly for both teams, but action picked back up after Owen Sound scored a goal to cut their lead to 3-1. The ‘Dogs scored their next three goals in under five minutes. Tomasino found the loose puck at the side of the net to score the fourth of the game and his second of the night, assisted by Robertson and Thomas. The Attack got two successive five minute major penalties and game misconducts, meaning the remainder of the game was played as a 5-on-3. Thomas passed to Robertson, who scored the fifth of the game from the faceoff circle. The secondary assist went to Kirill Maksimov. The sixth goal of the game and second powerplay marker came from Thomas, who tapped in a shot at the side of the net assisted by Oliver Castleman and Robertson.
With tonight’s 6-1 win, Jason Robertson’s point streak is now extended to 11 games.
