Guelph, ON – A Friday night matchup in Guelph left the IceDogs falling 6-4 to the Storm.
The IceDogs got off to a hot start with a centring pass from Andrew LeBlanc to set up Aidan Castle for his 11th of the season at 1:10 into the game. Just under 7 minutes in, Pasquale Zito won the draw for Brenden Sirizzotti who tapped in his own rebound to extend the IceDogs lead by 2. One Guelph power-play goal would cut the IceDogs lead in half going into the second. Owen Flores stood tall saving 15 for 16 in the opening frame.
A plethora of saves for Owen Flores allowed Anthony Agostinelli to send Kevin He up the ice to beat Gillespie short side for his 6th of the season at 3:58 into the second. Another power-play goal from the Storm would make it 3-2 in favour of Niagara at the end of 40 minutes of play.
Two goals in less than 4 minutes allowed the Storm to take the lead. Two more goals from the Storm including an empty netter, increased their lead by 3. With just 3 seconds to go, Declan Waddick found the back of the net to extend his goal streak to 4 games. IceDogs net-minder, Owen Flores stopped 38 shots in the loss.
