IceDogs in NHL Playoffs – Week 3 Recap

At the beginning of week three, there are now just two former IceDogs remaining for round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Brett Ritchie – Calgary Flames (7 GP – 2 G, 0 A, 2 PTS)

The Calgary Flames are currently trailing the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in the Battle of Alberta. In Calgary’s 9-6 win in game one, Ritchie scored 6 minutes in on Mike Smith to give the Flames a commanding 3-0 lead early on. Despite Calgary’s game two loss, Ritchie found himself on the score sheet again picking up another goal early in the first period. Game four is tonight where Brett Ritchie and the Calgary Flames hope to tie the series up on the road.

Ryan Strome – New York Rangers (10 GP – 1 G, 5 A, 6 PTS)

The Carolina Hurricanes lead the series 2-1 over Ryan Strome and the New York Rangers. Although Ryan is averaging almost 18 minutes of ice-time per night, he has not found a point in the series yet. Coming off a 3-1 win, the Rangers are hoping to repeat that tonight as they return home to Madison Square Garden for game three.

Special mention:

Carter Verhaeghe – Florida Panthers (10 GP – 6 G, 6 A, 12 PTS)

After four games, the Tampa Bay Lightning have ended Florida’s season much earlier than expected. The Florida Panthers have played 10 playoff series in franchise history, but no player quite had a performance like Carter Verhaeghe in round 1. Carter put up six goals and 12 points in six games, setting a franchise record for points in a single series. The record was previously held by Jonathan Huberdeau who had 10 points in 2021.
