IceDogs Select Pavel Demin in CHL Import Draft

The Niagara IceDogs have selected Russian centre Pavel Demin with their 35th overall selection in this year’s CHL Import Draft.
Demin spent last season with the Dynamo Moskva U17 of the Russia U17 League, compiling 8 goals and 24 points over 36 games. He ended the season strong with a call up to the HK MVD Balashikha of the MHL where he added an addition 2 points over 4 games.
Demin also represented his country multiple times throughout the season, first appearing with the Russia U17 team at the Under 17 World Hockey Championships. Here he contributed 2 assists over 6 games. He also represented the Russia U18 team at the Under 18 World Junior Championships. Despite being a year younger than his competition, Demin still produced a goal and 3 points over 5 games of the tournament.
Director of Player Personnel Joey Burke was very ecstatic to make this pick. “Demin is a young, high end player that will grow with our young group. He has good feet and skill, and is committed to playing in Niagara this upcoming season. We hope for him to be a huge part of this group moving forward.”
At only 5,9″ and 154 pounds, Demin is a small centre that produces a lot of offensive skill and creativity. He is an eligible prospect for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
