IceDogs Select Swiss defenceman in CHL Import Draft

Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have selected 2002-born Swiss defender Giancarlo Chanton 46th overall in the CHL Import Draft. The 6’0″, 165lb defenceman represented Switzerland the U17 and U18 levels internationally. He wore the C at the U17 level.

Chanton played 17 games for the Langnau U17 SLC Young Tigers, collecting 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists). He moved up to the Langnau U20 program for 16 games, collecting 9 assists. He has been described as a smooth skating puck moving defenceman, who is expected to fit in well with the young IceDogs blueline.
