Ryan Strome Voted Best IceDogs Center of All Time!

The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce that former center Ryan Strome has been voted by fans as the best IceDogs center of all time after collecting the most combined votes between the @OHLIceDogs Twitter poll and the NiagaraIceDogs.net fan poll.

Strome was an electrifying talent during his time with the IceDogs between 2009-2013. The memories he crafted for IceDogs fans through his consistently breathtaking on-ice performances have left an impression that will be forever entrenched into the history of the franchise.

Strome made an immediate impact upon his entry into the Ontario Hockey League, stepping into the IceDogs organization as a 16 year old forward. Having been born and raised in nearby Mississauga, the transition from living at home and playing in the GTHL to living with a billet family in St. Catharines proved to be a smooth one for Strome.

In his four seasons with the IceDogs, Strome notched 100 goals and 181 assists for a total of 281 regular season points. In the playoffs, the former IceDogs captain tallied 15 goals and 26 assists for a total of 41 points.

Strome was ecstatic when sharing his thoughts about being selected: “It’s always nice to be recognized by the great loyal fans of Niagara. Playing for the IceDogs was a huge privilege and getting to do so alongside many amazing teammates and more importantly lifelong friends was awesome. I’m lucky to have had such a great environment to learn and grow as a player and person and will be forever grateful for my days as an IceDog.”

IceDog Director of Player Personnel Joey Burke raved about Strome’s time with the team: “Great choice by the fans, no surprise to me as Ryan deserves this honour having been one of the best players in team history on the ice, and always embodied exactly what it means to be an IceDog off the ice.”

The entire IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Ryan on his achievements and wish him the best of luck in the future as he enjoys an illustrious career as a New York Islander!

The IceDogs All-Time Allstar Team fan vote continues this week as the best left-winger of all time will be selected. The four candidates chosen are Luca Caputi, Andrew Agozzino, Brendan Perlini, and Steven Shipley.
