Niagara IceDogs’ General Manager, Joey Burke, has announced that the team has completed a trade with the London Knights prior to today’s Overage deadline.
The IceDogs’ received Forward Sam Miletic and a 3rd Round Pick in 2018 (Sudbury), in exchange for:
2018 2nd Round Pick (Peterborough)
2022 3rd Round Pick (Niagara)
2024 2nd Round Pick (Niagara)
2025 2nd Round Pick (Niagara)
Prior to this season, Miletic signed an Entry Level Contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and since being returned to the Knights, has played 35 games, compiling 16 goals and 54 points over that timeframe and currently sits fourth in overall league scoring.
Burke was ecstatic with the move, and when asked for comment was quick to say, “We want to win our division. Sam is the best player that was available in the league, at any age, by far. He is a perfect addition for our group, and his elite offensive instincts will help us get to where we want to be this season. We were able to add Sam to our roster without losing anything in the next 6 drafts other than a single 3rd round pick, which will not impact our plans for next year. This is a huge move for us, and a notice to our room and the rest of the East. We are for real. We are ready to make some noise”.
The IceDogs are excited to welcome Sam to the organization, and fans can catch their first glimpse of Miletic in an IceDogs uniform on Thursday when they host the Erie Otters at 7:00pm.
