TRADE: IceDogs Acquire Gerard Keane in exchange for Alec Leonard and draft picks

Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced a trade they completed with the London Knights. The IceDogs have acquired defenseman Gerard Keane and a 12th round pick in 2023 (MISS) in exchange for defenseman, Alec Leonard, a second round pick in 2026 (MISS) and a third round pick in 2023 (NB).

Going into his third OHL season and OA year, Keane has 148 regular season OHL games with the London Knights under his belt. Last season, in 64 regular season games, the 6-foot, 185 lb defenseman put up 10 goals and 28 assists for a total of 38 points. In the playoffs, Gerard Keane had 3 goals and 1 assist in the 7 game series versus Kitchener. Most recently, Keane was named to Arizona Coyotes rookie tournament roster.
London acquires:

The 18-year-old from Toronto was selected by the IceDogs in the 2nd round of the 2020 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection with the 27th overall pick. Last season in his rookie year, the right-shot defenseman notched 6 goals and 11 assists for a total of 16 points in 64 games for the Niagara IceDogs.
