GAME RECAP | IceDogs beat Bulldogs 4-3 in fourth game of K-9 Cup

The Niagara IceDogs beat the Hamilton Bulldogs with a 4-3 score in the fourth game of the K-9 Cup Challenge. Tonight’s win tilts the series 3-1 in favour of the ‘Dogs.

The game got off to a quick start thanks to Ivan Lodnia! After a drop pass by Kirill Maksimov, Lodnia scored the first goal of the game. The secondary assist went to Ben Jones. Soon after, Hamilton scored to even the game at 1-1. Lodnia scored his second of the game to put the ‘Dogs back in the lead! His rebound marker was assisted by Maxi and Jacob Paquette. Later in the period on a powerplay, Jones scored a goal of his own from right in front of the net, assisted by Jason Robertson and Akil Thomas.

The second period remained scoreless, although a few penalties were exchanged.

The ‘Dogs began the third period on a successful penalty kill. Soon after the end, Phil Tomasino got an unassisted goal after the play went under review. Hamilton scored twice to cut the ‘Dogs lead to 4-3. After a hectic last minute, the ‘Dogs pushed through and kept the 4-3 win.

With his assist tonight, Jason Robertson extended his point streak to 16 games and remains the league’s point leader. The IceDogs are on a six game win streak.

Our next home game, and last before the Holiday Break, is our Ugly Christmas Sweater game on Saturday December 15th against the Oshawa Generals! The ‘Dogs will be wearing specialty jerseys. Post-game, the jerseys will be auctioned off by Luke’s Auctions in Section 105, with all proceeds going to Community Care.

There will be two donation drives at Saturday’s game! Community Care will be at all entrances before the game with barrels collecting non-perishable food items. Reliance Home Comfort will be doing their jacket drive on the concourse, where you can bring new or gently used winter jackets to their table.

Tomorrow, on Friday December 14th, Community Care is hosting their big event at Zehrs Pen Centre and St. Catharines’ Market Square. From 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., they will be collecting monetary and food donations.
