Back on October 1st the IceDogs were proud to honour the 2-time Memorial Cup Champions St. Catharines TeePees by raising their banners in the Meridian Centre and by wearing special commemorative jerseys. The Dogs also wore these TeePees Jerseys at a game later in the season against the Peterborough Petes as part of their Throwback Night in honour of the Pete’s 60th Anniversary.
Later in the year these commemorative game worn jerseys were auctioned off with proceeds to benefit Community Care of St.Catharines and Thorold.
Yesterday IceDogs Owners Bill and Denise Burke presented Betty-Lou Souter, Chief Executive Officer of Community Care of St.Catharines and Thorold a cheque for the amount of $2055.43. This donation will help support the various initiatives that Community Care provides to the Niagara community on a daily basis.
Once again Akil Thomas proved to be a fan favourite as his jersey was auctioned off for $375, while Stephen Dhillon and Liam Ham’s jerseys were sold for $300 each. Also of note Johnny Schaefer’s jersey was raffled off in game and garnered $380.
The Niagara IceDogs would like to thank all who participated in the auction of the TeePees honourary jerseys, and helped us support the great work of Community Care.
